Aim Belt Temperature System Infrared Sensor
The Aim Belt Temperature System Infrared Sensor is a non-contact sensor designed to measure the surface temperature of drive belts, commonly used in karting, UTVs, off-road vehicles, and any motorsport application where belt-driven transmissions are critical. It works by detecting infrared radiation emitted from the moving belt, translating this into a live temperature reading without ever touching the belt itself.
Please Note: The Aim Infrared Sensor is a direct replacement for the sensor supplied with the Aim Belt Temperature System (IBTS).
Why Choose the Aim IBTS Infrared Sensor
Drive belts can be a weak link in racing. When they overheat, they lose efficiency, start to slip, and are much more likely to fail, sometimes without warning. By using a non-contact infrared sensor, you get real time, accurate temperature readings directly from the belt surface, even while it’s spinning at high speed. This means you can spot issues as they develop, rather than after a failure.
There’s no need to modify the belt or risk damaging it with a contact probe. The sensor is robust, easy to mount, and integrates seamlessly with Aim data systems, so you can log, display, and analyse belt temperature alongside all your other performance data.
How the Aim Infrared Sensor Works
The Aim Infrared Sensor for Belt Temperature System is aimed at the moving belt, usually just a few centimetres away. As the belt operates, the sensor continuously measures its surface temperature and sends this data to your Aim logger or dash. You can see the temperature live on your display or review it later in Race Studio 3. If the belt temperature starts to climb too high, the Infrared Sensor provides a warning of excessive slip, overloading, or impending failure. This lets you make setup changes or back off before you risk a breakdown or lose performance on track.
