MyChron5 660 Drag Racing Data Logger Kit
The Aim MyChron5 660 is the go-to data logger that has been specifically designed for junior dragster/drag racing. The data provided can be used to make clutch adjustments, which are essential when you want your car to run fast.
Why Choose the MyChron5 660 Drag Racing Kit
The MyChron5 660 is perfect for junior drag racers because it gives young drivers and their teams the precise data they need to understand how their car is performing. With sensors that monitor temperature, speed, and RPM, the MyChron5 660 drag racing kit helps make the small but critical clutch and engine adjustments that can mean the difference between winning and losing on a race day.
Included Sensors
The MyChron5 660 kit contains 3 sensors to help improve performance:
- A cylinder head temperature thermocouple and an exhaust gas temperature (EGT) thermocouple to accurately measure the EGT, which can both be fitted to the provided dragster thermocouple split cable.
- A phonic wheel kit and a speed sensor that connects straight into the rear of the logger.
Easy Connection & Installation
It’s important to install your MyChron5 660 data logger in a place where you and mechanics can see the display while the dragster engine is being worked on. We recommend underneath the engine ON/OFF switch. To install the MyChron5 660, fix a bracket to the vertical bulkhead and then fix the logger to the bracket.
An RPM wire needs to be connected to the dragster ON/OFF switch. The switch is, in most cases, 2 poles (some switches are only 1 pole). The 2 poles are RPM and coil. RPM wire should be going to the coil side of the kill switch. Running it to the grounded side of the switch causes the RPM signal to drop in and out and sometimes not to work at all. Bring the ON/OFF switch opposite the bulkhead, drill a 0.2” (5mm) hole inside the bulkhead and remember to insert the rubber wire-holder in the hole to protect the RPM wire from tears and cuts. The RPM sampling frequency is 50Hz.
Powering the MyChron5 660 is simple: plug in and charge your battery. When the green light stops flashing, it's fully charged.
MyChron5 660 Display
The MyChron5 660 features a high-contrast LCD screen, offering great flexibility and readability while you drive. Choose from 8 configurable RGB backlight colours to suit your requirements. The ambient light sensor switches the backlight ON/OFF according to the ambient light conditions. The MyChron5 660 has 2 RGB alarm LEDs. You can set these to work as a temperature alarm.
Keyboard & Display Configuration
The MyChron5 660 has 4 metal, easy-to-use push buttons. This system has been designed to make the configuration of your display as easy as possible. You can configure the LCD set-up, drive set-up, RPM set-up, and units of measure. You can check that all sensors and expansions are connected and are in working order, and also know the number of recorded test sessions you have completed. Set the date and time and configure your Wi-Fi.
The MyChron5 660 is equipped with 4 engine pass counters, which can be configured in the menu.
Data Recall
After a test session, it is possible to recall sampled data. Check your test sessions, test summary, selected test values eg, RPM, CHT, EGT, overdrive, or you can view in graph mode.
