What’s New With The SW4 270 (MY26)?

Released in early 2026, the new Formula 270 Steering Wheel is a lighter, more powerful version of its predecessor. The new steering wheel features the following:

  • A choice of 0, 1 or 3 rotary switches compared to the standard 3 found in the original SW4 270.
  • A USB-C connector and a choice of a quick-release ready connector or the original 22-pin Autosport connector. 
  • A lightweight carbon fibre finish and optimised ergonomics for comfort and precision.

Formula SW4 270 Key Features

The SW4 270 (MY26) remains one of the most versatile steering wheels on the market thanks to its compatibility with a wide range of ECU protocols, integrated data-logging functions and other unique features.

Easy Connection

Connecting the 270 Formula Steering Wheel is extremely easy. Simply choose between the free wire cable option for quick-release systems or upgrade to the coiled cable with a 22-pin Autosport connector. 

Internal Data Logger

The Aim Formula Steering Wheel 270 has been specifically designed for professional motorsport applications. The internal data logger is fully configurable and has been developed to acquire and display data from the ECU, with thousands of fully compatible ECU protocols, making it easier than ever to get accurate performance data.

Display & Controls

The Aim Formula Steering Wheel 4 270 (MY26) is equipped with a high-contrast 4.3" TFT display, which is fully configurable and sunlight viewable. With an integrated ambient light sensor, the steering wheel delivers clear, precise, and reliable information directly to the driver at all times. If a bigger screen is needed, the GT320 or the GT350 steering wheels come with a 5” display. 

The Formula Steering Wheel 4 270 (MY26) features 8 fully configurable push buttons, 2 open free-contact buttons and up to 3 fully configurable rotary switches (you can choose between versions with 0, 1, or 3 rotary switches, depending on your needs), all backlit with RGB LEDs.

Alarms & LEDs

The Aim SW4 270 (MY26) Formula Steering Wheel offers 8 configurable shift light RGB LEDs and 4 configurable alarm RGB LEDs. You can define conditions, colours, priorities, and flashing frequencies, as well as display accompanying text messages when required. The advanced multi-colour RGB shift lights can be fully customised, with the option to define different shift patterns for each gear.

Lightweight Design

Compared to the previous Formula Steering Wheel, which was made out of anodised aluminium, the new 270 (MY26) Steering Wheel is made from carbon fibre-reinforced resin and forged metal, with high-density polyurethane handle grips. This not only makes the new steering wheel extremely lightweight (1,500g compared to 2,400g in its predecessor), but it also provides the ultimate grip and comfort when racing.

Paddle Shifters

The left and right paddle shifters that come with the SW4 270 (MY26) are used for downshifting and upshifting, respectively. This allows the hands to stay on the wheel, faster gear shifts, reduction in driver fatigue, maximum reliability and the utmost safety when braking and cornering.

Compatible Extras

Although the Formula Steering Wheel 4 is excellent on its own, there are some optional extras that are compatible with the steering wheel to enhance data logging capabilities.

GPS Module

Connected via CAN, the GPS Module makes lap timing and track position analysis easy. The GPS Modules are available in four different sizes: 0.5m, 1.3m, 2m and 4m, with roof-mounting versions available in 2m or 4m lengths.

Analogue CAN Converter

Connecting the Analogue CAN Converter (ACC3) allows you to connect up to 4 analogue inputs with frequencies up to 200Hz. Using the Aim ACC3 ensures your data logging steering wheel can extract data from a wide variety of sensors, such as thermo resistors, K-Type thermocouples, 0-5V sensors and 0-12V sensors.

Race Studio 3 Compatible

Using the free Race Studio 3 software, data can be transferred from the internal data logger into RS3 to see delta, predictive and theoretical times, laps and other vital data in the form of charts, as well as the numerical view on the actual display.

For Track or Sim Racing

Using Race Studio 3, every steering wheel function can be fully customised to match your preferences and racing style. With a firmware upgrade, the SW4 Steering Wheel can also be used for sim racing. It is recognised as a game controller, allowing each button to be mapped to match your real race car setup.

By updating to the latest firmware and connecting the wheel to your simulator, you can train with real motorsport hardware. Race Studio 3 enables you to review and compare data from both real and virtual driving, helping you refine and improve your performance.
