The Aim Hall Effect Wheel Speed Sensor is a non-contact sensor that detects the speed of a rotating object such as a wheel, driveshaft, or gear. It does this by sensing the passing of a metallic trigger (for example, a bolt head, gear tooth, or magnet) in front of the sensor face. The sensor will usually require a bracket to be fabricated to install the sensor in a suitable position. When installing the sensor, please ensure that the distance between the sensor and trigger is in a 0.5 – 2.0mm (0.007-0.07 inches) range.

Why Choose the Hall Effect Wheel Speed Sensor

The Wheel Speed Sensor operates using a Hall Effect; inside the sensor, a small thin piece of semiconductor material carries a constant electrical current. When this material is exposed to a magnetic field (such as when the trigger passes by), the movement of electrons within it changes - they are pushed to one side of the material, creating a small voltage difference called the Hall voltage.

This voltage is then converted into a digital signal - a square wave - that the data logger or ECU (Engine Control Unit) can interpret as pulses. Each pulse represents one pass of the trigger, allowing the system to calculate rotational speed (RPM).

Connections

The Aim Hall Effect Wheel Speed Sensor comes with a 2m cable and a 719 plastic binder connector. This sensor can be connected with all MX dashes (including the Strada), ACC3, EVO4, EVO4S and EVO5 using the relevant harnesses.
