Running Maps

Maps are a combination of all the parameters governed by the ECU directly related to engine performance and consist of different tables. The main maps are the fuel and ignition. You can also set up tables of various strategies and sensors.

Fuel Corrections

A correction is the possibility to get a fatter or leaner fuel mixture at different RPM ranges: low, mid and high. The RPM threshold, as well as the percentage, apply along with the default value. This can be done during configuration in maps.

Please Note: Fuel Corrections are enabled in the selected map - this is done during the ECU Maps configuration.

Traction Control

Traction control is used to stop your wheels from spinning when you apply any excess power. You can activate traction control by keeping the lower button pushed down until the green LED beside the TC label appears. To de-activate simply hold down the lower push button.

After pressing down the lower pushbutton and the green TC LED appears, you can select using the upper pushbutton how strong the Traction Control Strategy is supposed to be with (1) being the weakest wheel block to (5) being the strongest wheel block.

Please Note: Traction Control is enabled in the selected map - this is done during the ECU Maps configuration.

Launch Control

The handlebar switch can be used to activate launch control which will assist you to accelerate from a standing start. To activate simply push both the upper and lower buttons on the handlebar switch together, wait a few seconds and the red LEDs will start to blink and the strategy will be engaged.

High Technology 32-bit Core - Optional Extra

Engine control requires precision. At 20,000 RPM the Taipan ECU guarantees the precision of 1/10 of the degree: this means an accuracy within 0.8 uses for turning the spark ON!

This precision is the key to guarantee :

A very consistent engine rotation.

The possibility to repeat dozens of tests at the bench, always obtaining the same exact result.

A perfect reactivity at every minimum change of any point of a map, resulting in more power at the wheel.

UC Bridge - Optional Extra

The UC Bridge is the connection between the CAN bus of the ECU and the USB port of your PC. It is available in 2 different licenses :

User License : A Taipan ECU comes with some basic maps that already give you better performance than the stock maps. Highly professional tuners all over the world offer specific maps that better fit your requirements, managing, for example, different exhaust, two injectors etc.

The UC Bridge is required for two functions :
- Transfer new and different maps to your ECU through the User License UC Bridge.
- Receiving diagnostic information from the Taipan ECU.

Tuner License :

With this license, the tuner can create different maps, configurations and strategies designed for the rider's bike. The tuner can then flash them directly onto the ECU or send them via email to allow the rider to download and install them in the ECU.

*Please Note: For information regarding the UC-Bridge Tuner, please contact one of our AiM technical team for further information.

Taipan ECU Connections

The Taipan ECU has 4 connectors :

Main Connector - Compatible with most off-road bikes.
CAN Connector - Connects to the Handlebar Switch and Data Logger.
2nd CAN Connector - Connect to the UC Bridge, in order to communicate with the PC.
3rd Connector - Connect to spare analogue inputs and to a possible second injector.
