Round 3 of the British GT Championship at Silverstone over the weekend of 27th April 2024 to 28th April 2024 saw another exciting event that endured bad weather to add to the excitement.
Garage 59's Shaun Balfe and Adam Smalley secured victory at the British GT's Silverstone 500, showcasing composed performance amidst challenging conditions. The three-hour race unfolded with varying strategies across the field.
McLaren celebrated a dual triumph as Optimum, alongside Jack Brown and Zac Meakin, clinched their second consecutive 500 victory.
The GT3 overall podium featured Richard and Sam Neary from Team Abba Racing, representing the Silver-Am category. Pro-Am victors Chris Buncombe and Jann Mardenborough from Team RJN claimed third place overall post-race, benefitting from Orange/JMH's 35-second penalty. The #23 crew, despite a promising run, faced setbacks due to late-race contact resulting in Marcus Clutton's drive-through penalty.
In GT4, Jamie Day and Mikey Porter overcame a 10-second Compensation Time penalty to secure second place in Forsetti's Aston Martin. Gordie Mutch's remarkable manoeuvre around the outside of Seb Morris propelled Mahiki's Lotus, driven by Mutch and Ian Duggan, to the overall podium and Pro-Am victory.
