Aim IR Temperature Multi-Point Sensor
The Aim Multi-Point Belt Temperature System is a high-precision, non-contact sensor designed to monitor drive belt surface temperatures in karting, UTVs, and off-road motorsport. Unlike standard sensors that provide a single average reading, this advanced unit utilises a 16-point thermal array to map temperatures across the entire width of the belt.
By detecting infrared radiation across 16 distinct zones, the Infrared Belt Temperature System (IBTS) Sensor provides a comprehensive "heat map" of the belt's surface, translating live data into actionable insights without physical contact.
Why Choose the Aim IBTS Infrared Sensor
Drive belts are often the "weak link" in high-performance transmissions. Overheating leads to glazing, slipping, and catastrophic failure. The Aim IR Temperature Multi-Point Sensor for IBTS offers a significant advantage:
16-zone precision assists in identifying uneven heat distribution, which can signal pulley misalignment or uneven wear that a single-point sensor might miss. Rapid data transfer ensures that readings are sent every 0.1 seconds via CAN communication for real-time analysis.
Visual feedback is available when integrated with Aim displays, belt temperature is visualised as a dynamic colour gradient across the line, allowing drivers to identify hot spots at a glance. The IR Temperature Multi-Point Sensoralso connects directly to the dedicated IBTS expansion port (rather than standard analogue temperature inputs), ensuring high-speed data logging and analysis in Race Studio 3.
How the Multi-Point Temperature Sensor Works
The Aim IR Temperature Multi-Point Sensor is mounted a few centimetres from the belt surface. As the belt spins, the 16-point window captures a detailed thermal profile. This data is streamed to your Aim logger or dash, where it can be used to:
Monitor Live Heat: View the colour-coded temperature bar on your dash during the race.
Prevent Failure: Receive warnings for excessive slip or overloading before a belt snaps.
Optimise Setup: Use Race Studio 3 to analyse how different clutching setups or cooling ducts affect belt longevity and heat distribution.
