Predictive Lap Timer

Using real time GPS technology and a database of track layouts, the Solo 2 DL provides a reliable predictive lap timing functionality. This allows the GPS Lap Timer to estimate your current lap time, showing you in real time how your current lap compares to your best lap or a reference lap. The 10 LEDs are also configurable to provide a visual indication of whether you are quicker or slower.

The Solo 2 DL also features a theoretical lap timing mode, which pieces together your overall best sector times to provide an optimal lap time that could be achieved.

The Solo 2 DL features a high contrast, 238x99 pixel graphical display, ensuring excellent readability in various track day conditions. Accurate Lap Times

The Solo 2 DL Lap Timer features a 25 Hz GPS receiver, a 100 Hz 6-axis inertial platform and an ECU interface. It calculates, shows and records lap times, sector times, position & motorcycle speed and 3D acceleration & gyro.

The inertial platform at 100 Hz gives the possibility to calculate roll, pitch and yaw. This provides detailed insights into your motorcycle's dynamics, including steering position analysis to understand oversteer and understeer to help fine-tune your setup for optimal performance on the track.

ECU Connectivity

In addition to its GPS capabilities, the Aim Solo 2 DL also features an ECU interface that allows the device to communicate directly with your motorcycle's engine control unit, collecting data from various motorcycle sensors that have been fitted. The sampled data you record depends on the actual ECU, but typically includes RPM, engine load, throttle position (TPS), oil, air & water temperature, oil pressure, battery voltage, speed, gear selection and lambda value (air/fuel).

The Solo 2 DL manages all the hardware ECU connections and all the communication lines: depending on whether you want to connect to the ECU using the OBDII port or directly to the ECU through the CAN/RS232 channel.

The Solo 2 DL supports over 1,000 ECU protocols, but if the ECU protocol is not supported, connecting the Solo 2 DL to a coil RPM will provide a digital input delivered from square wave signals or pulse signals. By analysing this data alongside your lap times and speed, you can gain valuable insights into how your engine performance is affecting your overall track performance.

Solo 2 DL Track Database

The Solo 2 DL Lap Timer includes valuable information about the track. Thanks to the thousands of pre-loaded track maps worldwide, the lap timer automatically recognises your position on the track as soon as it's switched on. Once you start riding, it automatically recognises the start line coordinates of the track and starts sampling lap times every time you go past.

Whether it's used for a track racing or performance tests such as 0-60mph, the Solo 2 GPS Lap Timer allows you to create a new temporary or permanent track layout too. Even if there is no track already, the device will create one for you.

Important: Import your track performance to Race Studio 3 Software to analyse racing lines, cornering speeds and braking points to improve your lap times.

Wi Fi Connectivity

The Solo 2 DL has integrated Wi-Fi to allow you to transfer your data securely, straight from your motorcycle to your laptop/PC trackside. You can then review your racing data in more depth by importing it to our free Race Studio 3 software, which can be done from up to 50m away without the need for connectors and cables.

With Race Studio 3, you can create, modify, delete, import and export configurations with all channels, ECU drivers, Math channels, Display Pages, Digital outputs, Alarms, Shift Lights and all the expansions you need. You can also manage the map of all your racing tracks and compare two laps by watching the video recorded by the SmartyCam HD camera.

Analysis

Race Studio 3 also allows you to download and analyse all data recorded by your Solo 2 DL to your laptop/PC. With graphs, histograms and tables, you can study your lap and sector times to refine racing lines and braking points to enhance your racing performance.
